SH*T is gettin' real.
So, this is what a quarantine looks like in America. I am in Chicago. I hope you are all doing well and hunkered down with the things that make you happy. I am.
I’ve got Jeff, my partner of 10yrs. My extended family is hearty, and pretty much on cruise control including our newest member, Ellie who is 3.5 wks old today. She is our silver lining around this mess called Covid-19.
We’ve stocked up on all the essentials. I’ve got secret stashes of chocolate hidden here and there “just in case”. My art supplies could easily satisfy a small school because I also stock up on them “just in case”. Workout clothes are the new norm, sad but true.
Today I participated in my first group zoom meeting to celebrate a friend’s birthday. I signed up for my first virtual yoga class. Took a walk with my cousin and got my 10,000 steps in, and a bunch of laughs. This is called the bright side.
This past week I worried a little, and procrastinated a lot. And, I started binge watching the West Wing. I tried to keep some routines in check, like getting coffee and going for walks and showering. You know, the little things that make me feel everything is gonna be all right.
Tomorrow sh*t get’s real again. It’s back to work (at home). I work in advertising. It will be busy. I’m crossing my fingers that all my technology plays nicely.
The way I look at it, this is the time to reach for your bootstraps and grab your big girl panties and try to stay positive. Do more of what makes you happy, right? My focus will be to create a studio practice to help me ride this wave of crazy. Cowabunga!
Peace, love, and happiness. xo
